The Nail Challenge Collaborative - December 2015: Negative Space

Hey there! Today I have my fourth post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative December negative space theme.  I was hoping to get this done prior to Christmas, but didn't have time to write and edit my post. That's why you're getting Christmas colors after the holiday.

For this one I decided to do a negative space dotticure.  I used Rica Challah Back, Emerald Duchess, and Santa Baby to create this look.  I love these polishes together and can't wait to wear them on their own.

I used different sized dotting tools and just placed the dots randomly.  I don't like white tips without polish on them so I put more dots on the tips to cover them. I'm very happy with how this turned out.

What do you think of my final negative space look? Have you tried any of the manis I did?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative- December 2015: Negative Space

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have my third post in The Nail Challenge Collaborative December Negative Space theme. This time I used holiday colors to create this look.

I used Zoya Posh and Veruschka plus straight Nail Vinyls to create this look. I always love manis like this and knew I wanted to do one for this month's theme.

As you can see I didn't get the lines perfectly smooth. I'm okay with it though cause it still looks pretty.  I decided to leave this look matte rather than put topcoat on it cause I like it this way. Topcoat might have smoothed out the lines though.

Negative space manis aren't my favorite because I don't love my nails naked.  If I did this look again I would definitely do a white base first.

What do you think of this look?  How do you feel about negative space manis?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - December 2015: Negative Space

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have my second post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative December Negative Space theme.  I'm continuing with holiday manis for this one!

I decided to do a holly mani for my second post.  I used Zoya Chyna, Chita, and Purity as my polishes.  I painted my index finger with Chyna and my pinky with Chita and did freehand white tips with Purity.

I used a dotting tool for the holly berries and leaves.  I did not paint the remainder of my middle and ring fingers to keep with the negative space theme.

I used KBShimmer Clearly On Top for the picture above just to see what it would like smooth instead of textured.  I like it both ways, but preferred the textured look.

Overall I'm very happy with how this turned out. I know it's not perfect, but it's still festive and nice for the holidays.  I used these same polishes for a different holly mani last year.  I'm going to have to make this a tradition I think!

What do you think of this look? Have you done any holly manis?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - December 2015: Negative Space

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have for you my first post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative December Negative Space theme.  I'm going to try to do all holiday themed looks this month just so you're aware.

I saw a look like this on Instagram and decided I wanted to try it.  I used two polishes from Stardust Polish - Yes Your Majesty and Self-Aware.  The design is freehand besides the pom-pom on the end of the hat which I used a dotting tool for.

I really love how this turned out.  It's so simple, but cute! I wish I knew who to give credit to for coming up with this idea, but unfortunately I don't remember where I saw it first.

What do you think of my first negative space look?  What are some fun holiday manis you've done this year?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - November 2015: Monochrome

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have my final post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative November Monochrome theme.  I realize I'm wicked late, but sometimes life gets in the way!

For this post I decided to do shades of blue.  I also tried a new to me technique, my first pond mani. For those of you that don't know a pond mani is when you do nail art whether stamped or freehand in between layers of jelly polishes.  I think I need to try this style more because I'm not in love with how this turned out.

The polishes I used are Rica Squishy Blueberry and Whiteout. Yes, I know Whiteout is not a shade of blue, but since I did the pond mani it's counting as monochrome to me. I stamped the snowflakes using MoYou London Festive 03 plate.

So as I mentioned I'm not totally in love with this. I think next time I'll start with a creme base color then stamp and finish with the jelly.

What do you think of this look? Have you tried a pond mani before?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - November 2015: Monochrome

*purchased by me*

Hey there!  Today I have my third post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative November Monochrome theme. For this one I had to go with my favorite color...PINK!!!

Last fall I did a spiral dotticure, and I have always wanted to try it again. Instead of a spiral I went with a circular design, and I'm really happy with how this turned out.

I used all Zoya polishes for this mani.  I started with two coats of Dot. Once it was completely dry I used Ali and Shelby to create my pink dotted look!

I'm so happy with how this turned out. I will tell you that if you are looking for some quick and easy nail art don't do this.  It can be time consuming, but the finished product is worth it.

What do you think of my third look? Have you ever tried a dotticure like this?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - November 2015: Monochrome

*purchased by me*

Hey there!  Today I have my second post for November's The Nail Challenge Collaborative Monochrome theme.  For this one I went with shades of purple.

I started with a base of Essie Lilacism and stamped with Zoya Pinta and MoYou London Princess 12 plate. I love the pinwheel design and need to use this plate more often!

I love how this turned it out. It's simple, but the monochrome colors look so good with this stamp.

What do you think of this look?  What color family should I use for my next post?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - November 2015: Monochrome

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Sorry I've been MIA for a while.  I broke my index finger nail way below the quick so haven't been doing my nails much, but today I have my first post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative November Monochrome theme.

I knew I wanted to do shades of brown, and originally I was going to do stamping, but once I picked my polishes I decided to do fan brush nail art. I thought they would look great together in a fan brush look.

I started with a base of Zoya Jacqueline and then with my fan brush I used Zoya Nyssa and Essie Partner In Crime as well as Jacqueline.  I did a layer of Nyssa, a layer of Partner In Crime, a layer of Jacqueline then one more layer of Nyssa and Partner In Crime to achieve this look.

Here's a macro shot so you can see how it looks close up.

I really love fan brush nail art.  It's super easy and looks great!  Plus it's fun to see what colors look good together.

What do you think of this look? Have you tried fan brush nail art? What would you do for a monochrome look?

CrowsToes Huginn & Muninn

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have for you CrowsToes Huginn & Muninn.  I wanted this polish forever and was so happy when it became available at Color4Nails

I decided to do a full blog post because of how different this looks under different lighting. All pictures are taken indoors.

Huginn & Muninn is a strong purple to green multichrome shimmer in a dark blue base.  This is two coats with topcoat.

I really love the color shift in this polish especially when you can see both the purple and green.

Please check out CrowsToes and Color4Nails Facebook pages.  You can purchase this polish HERE.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - October 2015: Funky French

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have my fourth post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative October's Funky French theme. Once again I decided to do a Halloween theme.

I have always wanted to do googly eye nail art and thought this would be the perfect time to try it out.  It totally makes me think of Halloween, and eyes peaking out from the dark!

I used Blackout and Whiteout from Rica plus dotting tools to create this fun Halloween look.  It's simple and easy to do, but I love it!

I hope that you liked all of my Funky French posts this month. I'm kind of sad I finished early so check back as I might do a few more just for fun!

Which was your favorite of my Halloween Funky French manicures?  Will you try any of these looks?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - October 2015: Funky French

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have my third post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative October Funky French theme! I'm sticking with Halloween nail art for this.

I started with a base of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Happy Hour at the Blue Parrot which is a gorgeous orange jelly with copper shimmers. It's a great fall color!

I knew I wanted to do bats for one of my looks so I decided to stamp them with Rica Blackout and MoYou London Festive 15 plate.

I'm not sure if everyone would consider this a French manicure, but that's the best thing about this month's theme!  It's all up to our own interpretation.

What do you think of this look? Have you done any Halloween nail art yet?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - October 2015: Funky French

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have my second Funky French post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative.  I'm sticking with Halloween themed nail art for this one!

I was inspired by Frankenstein for this look.  I started with a base of one coat of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Fare The Wind. I love this purple holo.  If I was wearing it alone I would do two coats, but one worked for the look I wanted to achieve.

I used Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Siren Channels the 80s for the tips.  Then I used a Color Club Art Club black striping polish to create Frankenstein's stitches.

I think this is a fun and easy look for Halloween, and it's definitely a Funky French mani!

What do you think of this look? Would you wear this for Halloween?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - October 2015: Funky French

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have my first post for October's The Nail Challenge Collaborative Funky French theme. We have a lot of leeway with this one as we can interrupt it however we'd like!

I knew I wanted to do something that was a Halloween look so I started with three coats of Rica The Great Pumpkin on all of my nails.  I love this color and you can see my original post and review HERE.

Once The Great Pumpkin was dry I applied single chevron Nail Vinyls and painted over them with Rica Blackout.  I thought that worked perfectly for my Halloween theme.  I was originally just going to do black tips over the Orange, but thought this was actually funkier!

I'm so happy with how this turned out.  It's definitely a funky French mani, and it's something I've never done before.  I also think it's perfect for Halloween!

What do you think of this look? Is it funky enough for you?
