OPI Damone Roberts 1968

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have for you OPI Damone Roberts 1968.  This polish was one of my biggest lemmings. When Damone Roberts had it on sale for $10 on Cyber Monday I lucked out and got one!

Damone Roberts 1968 is a vintage shade of minty sage-green.  I love the color, but I had some issues with the polish.  First, my brush was really messed up.  Bristles were bent in half and stuck together.  I ended up having to pluck out a few with tweezers just to be able to use the brush.  Second, the formula wasn't great.  It was very streaky. This is three coats with topcoat, and you can still see some streaks on my middle finger near the cuticle.

Overall, the color is beautiful, but I'm glad I got this for $10 including shipping during the sale. I don't think it's worth $20 plus shipping although it did feel great to squash a major lemming!

What do you think of this polish?  What are some of your big lemmings?

Check out Damone Roberts here and like OPI on Facebook.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Spark in the Dark Collection

*press sample*

Hey there!  Today I have for you two beautiful polishes from the Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Spark in the Dark Collection.  This gorgeous collection will be releasing next month, and today I have for you The Years Have Been Short and Wanna Fall in Love Tonight.  Let's jump right in!

The Years Have Been Short

     Outdoors without topcoat

The Years Have Been Short is a white tinted jelly base with white microglitter, silver reflective beads, blue/purple iridescent microglitters, strong blue shimmer, and a smattering of various shades of blue microglitters.

     Indoors without topcoat

I used three coats of polish for full coverage.  You could also try layering it over an opaque base color such as white, light grey, or light blue.  You can definitely see the silver reflective beads in the indoor pictures.

     Indoors with topcoat

Microglitters tend to dry slightly textured so I also used topcoat to smooth it out. Julie is known to make some amazing microglitters, and this truly does not disappoint.  I love the color combination and the silver reflective beads are really cool!

Wanna Fall in Love Tonight

     Indoors without topcoat

Wanna Fall in Love Tonight is a red-leaning purple with delicate golden red shimmer.  This dries to a satin finish so I have pictures with and without topcoat.

     Indoors with topcoat

This polish was a little streaky on the first coat which is expected with satin finish polishes.  It leveled out and was completely opaque with two coats.  The formula was great and really easy to work with.

     Indoors with topcoat

     Outdoors with topcoat

The red shimmer in this polish is absolutely beautiful.  Just look at it!  I am totally in love with this polish, and I don't have anything like it.

I really love both of these polishes, and the fact that they were different than any other polishes in my collection was a definite plus.  The formula and application on both were great.  I can't wait to get the rest of the collection when they're released next month.

There will be 8 polishes total in the Spark in the Dark collection releasing on Monday, January 12th at 3:30pm in the BEGL Shop.  The full size set will be $67 or $37 for mini bottles.  A new limited edition Siren will also be releasing that day.  Please follow Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter.

*press sample*

Hey there!  Today I have for you these silver snowflake vinyl nail decals from Lacquer by Lissa.  They were included in the blogger package I received to review.

These decals are very easy to use. After my nail polish is completely dry I peal them off the backing with tweezers and place them where I want them on my nail and seal them in with topcoat.  I used Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Void Stuff and The Innuendo Squad as my base colors because I thought they'd look great with the silver snowflakes.

I really love the snowflake decals. I ended up buying a full set in white after I received my review samples.  They're perfect for the winter!

A2Z Series Week 8 - H is for Holo

*purchased by me/received as gift*

Hey there!  It's that time of the week again, A2Z Weekly Challenge time!  This week H is for Holo which I'm so excited about!  As you know I love my holos!

I saw this idea on Instagram posted by @aishers87 and knew I had to try it.  It was really easy to do so if you're looking for a Christmas tree design I would recommend trying this!

I started with two coats of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Out For A Walk...Bitch! Once that was dry I used lightning bolt Nail Vinyls to create the shape of the Christmas tree.  I used Jade Energy for the tree and painted the ornaments on with Color Club Harp On It and a dotting tool.

I'm really happy with how they turned out.  I had to include a bunch of different photos to show how it looks in all different lighting.

What do you think of my holo look?  Is this something you would try?

Don't forget to check out the other bloggers participating in the challenge and remember to check back every Thursday to see all the creations.  Next week is I is for Inspired.  For the complete A2Z Archive head over to the hubpage HERE

Born Pretty Store Maple Leaf Water Decals

*press sample*

Hey there!  Today I have for you these cute maple leaf water decals from Born Pretty Store.

I've never used water decals before and was surprised how easy they actually were.  They come with instructions on the package which was great. You cut out the decal you want, remove the plastic, and submerge the decal in water for 10-20 seconds.  It slides off the paper, and you place it where you want it on the nail. Then you dry your nail with a paper towel and seal it with topcoat.

I layered these decals over two coats of Smitten Polish Penny Dreadful. They will look great over a lot of different base colors though.

I had picked my review items back in September and thought these would be perfect for fall. Unfortunately they didn't get to me until last week though.  I still wanted to try them out, and I think they're really cute!

As I mentioned in a previous post, Born Pretty Store is great for affordable nail art supplies.  They ship from China though so it can take a while for the items to get to you. Here is their website, and you can order these water decals here. Use code SGSG10 for 10% off your order.  Now through December 17th, they are having a massive Christmas sale so make sure you take a look!  Please like them on Facebook and follow them on Instagram

Smitten Polish Penny Dreadful

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have for you Smitten Polish Penny Dreadful. This isn't a typical color for me, but when their fall collection came out I was immediately drawn to it.  Maybe it's because I was watching Season 1 of the TV show when this came out!

Penny Dreadful is described as a copper jelly filled with holographic microglitter. It's really amazing how much this polish shimmers!  I used two coats plus topcoat, and I can't feel the glitters at all. It's completely smooth!

I don't think this color is right on my skin tone, but I do think it's beautiful.  If you like brown/copper polishes you should definitely get this one! I was able to get it during the Cyber Monday sale, and I wish I had gotten more!

Smitten Polish can be purchased here.  Please like them on Facebook and Instagram.

Born Pretty Store Nail Studs

*press sample*

Hey there! Today I have for you these holiday themed nails using Born Pretty Store Nail Studs.  I'm doing a nail art challenge on Instagram and yesterday's theme was lights.  I wanted to do Christmas lights and knew these studs would be perfect for this look.

These nail studs were easier to use than I thought they would be! I started with two coats of Rica Whiteout and drew the lines with a black L.A. Colors Art Deco striper. I let them dry fully, placed a dab of topcoat on my nail with a toothpick, and placed the stud on my nail with tweezers. I sealed it all in with topcoat.

The set of nail studs that I got comes in these three colors, and there are four different shapes of each color.  They come in other colors as well.

I'm really happy with how these turned out, and I'm glad I got these nail studs in time to do this look!

Born Pretty Store is great for affordable nail art supplies.  They ship from China though so it can take a while for the items to get to you. A2Z Series Week 7 - G is for Gold

Hey there!  It's week seven of the A2Z Weekly Challenge, and this week G is for Gold.  I don't own a lot of gold nail polish so I really struggled with an idea for this week. Then my friend sent me this gorgeous Lynnderella Good Gravy, Granny! as a gift, and I knew I had to use it!

I started with two coats of Bonita Colors Rembrandt's Muse (which I purchased at Rite Aid) on my index, middle, and pinky fingers and two coats of Good Gravy, Granny! on my ring finger.  I still had no clue what to do for the nail art part though so asked some friends for suggestions, and one suggested Christmas ribbons.  I loved that idea and tried to make it look like wrapped presents, but it didn't look right so I went with these abstract bows instead. I used a gold L.A. Colors Art Deco striper I picked up at Dollar Tree to paint on the bows.

I had a hard time photographing this so I'm sorry my pictures aren't great. I don't normally like gold so I was dreading this week, but I'm actually happy with how this turned out.  And now that I have this Lynnderella I'm a fan of gold nail polish!

What nail art would you do for gold?  Are there any gold polishes you'd recommend I should try?

Don't forget to check out the other bloggers participating in the challenge and remember to check back every Thursday to see all the creations.  Next week is H is for Holo.  I love my holos so I'm really looking forward to next week!  For the complete A2Z Archive head over to the hubpage HERE

OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have for you an oldie, but goodie! OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls is one of my all time favorite polishes and a great white!

My Boyfriend Scales Walls is from The Amazing Spider-Man Collection which was released in 2012, and is a white creme with just a hint of grey to it.  It's hard to describe, but that hint of grey is what makes this color so wearable!

This is three coats plus topcoat, but I could have gotten away with two coats though.

What are some of your favorite oldies but goodies?

Hey there!  Today was the first day it has snowed here this season so I thought these snowflake vinyl nail decals from Lacquer by Lissa would be perfect for today! When I received my blogger package for review I immediately was drawn to these decals!

I have three coats of KBShimmer Snow Way! on my index and pinky fingers and, and two coats of Rica Whiteout on my middle and ring fingers.  I waited for Whiteout to completely dry, pealed the light blue snowflake decals off the backing with tweezers and placed them on my nails.  Then I sealed them with topcoat.

I love how easy these decals are to use, and she has so many different designs and colors to choose from.  I ended up buying a full sheet of these in white after I got my blogger samples because I loved them so much!

Polar Bear Nail Art

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have some fun winter nail art for you.  I'm doing the #nailartdec challenge on Instagram, and today's theme is animals so I had to do polar bear nails since they're my favorite animal.

I started with a base of Essie Shelter Island.  I love this blue. It's so squishy!

I found a tutorial on polar bear nail art on YouTube by TheAnkiBear which you can see here.  I used Zoya Purity and Essie Licorice to create the polar bears and finished with topcoat.  I love how these turned out! They're so cute!

What's your favorite animal? Have you done any animal nail art?

Lacquer by Lissa Ornaments Vinyl Nail Decals

*press sample*

I was so excited to receive a blogger package from Lacquer by Lissa with her holiday and winter vinyl nail decals and some other samples.  As you've seen from some previous posts I love her vinyl nail decals so much!  I know it's just the beginning of December, but I wanted to make sure you have enough time to order before the holidays. Today I have ornament decals to show you in three different colors.

Purple Ornaments

I layered the purple ornaments over two coats of Cirque Colors Never Nude.  I love the combination of purple and gold for the holidays!

Silver Ornaments

I layered the silver ornaments over three coats of Stardust Polish The More You Gnome. I think the navy blue and silver are a great winter combination.

Gold Ornaments

I layered the gold ornaments over two coats of Chaos & Crocodiles LH07. This might not be traditional holiday colors, but I do love the gold with pink. Plus, you can layer nail decals over whatever color you'd like!

Vinyl Nail Decals are really easy to use!  I peal them off the backing with tweezers and place them on my nail. I seal them in with topcoat and all done!

Have you tried vinyl nail decals yet?  You really should try them if you haven't yet!  She has so many different designs to choose from.

Lacquer by Lissa Vinyl Nail Decals can be purchased in her Etsy shop, and here is a link directly to the ornaments which come in many different colors. Please show her some love on Facebook and Instagram
