The Nail Challenge Collaborative - June 2015: Superheros

*purchased by me*

Hey there!  Today I have my third post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative June theme - Superheros. This time I went with Black Widow which was a last minute decision, but I'm happy I decided to do nails inspired by her.

I started with a base of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer The Last Time I Tortured Someone, They Didn't Even *Have* Chainsaws which is a gorgeous black linear holo with red shimmer and midnight red flakies.  I thought it was the perfect base for a Black Widow mani.

I did the hourglass using Zoya Asia and single chevron and straight Nail Vinyls.  I used the same polish and a striping brush to create the lines on my other fingers.

This is actually my favorite design I've done for this challenge.  I'm really happy with how it turned out.  I have one more to do which will be based on my favorite Superhero.  Can you guess who it is?  I'll give you a hint.  I'm sticking with girl power!

What do you think of this look? Have you tried any Superhero nail art?

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer The Last Time I Tortured Someone, They Didn't Even *Have* Chainsaws

*purchased by me*

Hey there!  Let me start by saying I know my cuticles are a mess!  Today I have for you Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer The Last Time I Tortured Someone, They Didn't Even *Have* Chainsaws.  Yes, it's a mouthful, but so worth it!

Chainsaws (yes I shortened it!) is hard to describe in my opinion so I'll use Julie's description!  It's a black linear holo with red shimmers and midnight red flakies.  It's based on Angelus from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and in my opinion it suits him perfectly.  This was said in one of my favorite episodes of Buffy which I know is weird, but I love a bad boy!  It was in Becoming Part 2 (Season 2, Episode 22)

Angelus: Hi, Rupert. I wasn’t sure you were gonna wake up. You had me worried.

Giles: What do you want?

Angelus: I wanna torture you. I used to love it, and it’s been a longtime. I mean, the last time I tortured somebody, they didn’t even have chainsaws.

I used a blogger discount to purchase this polish so here's my review.  This is two coats with topcoat. I could have gotten away with one coat, but I prefer two.  The application and formula were great.  I love this color!  It's stunning and again work suitable in my opinion!

Angel was always my favorite on Buffy, but there was something so attractive about Angelus.

You can purchase this HERE.  Please make sure to like Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer on Facebook and follow her on Twitter and Instagram.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - June 2015: Superheros

*purchased by me*

Spiderman, Spiderman, does whatever a spider can
Spins a web any size, catches thieves just like flies
Look out, here comes Spiderman!

Hey there! Today I have my second post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative's June theme - Superheros.  As you can tell I went with Spiderman for this one!

I started with a base of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer I Fought For My Soul and with my black striping polish I drew the webs and Spiderman logo.

I'm actually having fun with this month's theme, and I originally thought I would hate it.  Now to decide on my third Superhero.  I know who I'm doing for the last one cause I'm saving the best for last!

What Superhero should I do next?  Who's your favorite?

Stardust Polish Gnome Wrecker

*purchased by me*

Hey there!  Today I have for you Stardust Polish Gnome Wrecker which is a gorgeous bright pink crelly with dark pink holo glitter and rainbow flakies.  Each month Drema from Stardust and Ricarda from Rica put out the G.N.O.M.E. Box, and this was Drema's contribution for the May box.

These pics are taken indoors in artificial lighting.  Since this is a crelly I used four coats, and there is still a hint of visible nail line.  I usually get frustrated when I have to do a lot of coats, but the formula and application were great on this so it didn't bother me at all.

Here is a pic in the sun.  You can really see the glitter and flakies in this pic.  I love a good pink, and this one is so unique and pretty in my opinion!

G.N.O.M.E. Boxes are sold monthly in either the Stardust Polish shop or the Rica shop.  Follow Stardust and Rica on Facebook for updates on when the box will be released and in which shop.

Have you gotten your June G.N.O.M.E. Box yet?  They're still available in the Stardust Polish shop, and you can't beat the price at $16 for two limited edition polishes.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer I Fought For My Soul

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have for you a gorgeous polish from Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer.  This is I Fought For My Soul from the Once More With Feeling v2 collection.  I purchased this polish, but used a blogger discount so I'll be doing a full review.

I Fought For My Soul is based on the character Spike from Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel.  The line was actually said in an episode of Angel (Season 5, Episode 8).

Spike: Look at you, thinking you’re the big savior fighting for truth, justice, and soccer moms. But you still can’t lay flesh on a cross without smelling like bacon, can you?

Angel: Like you’re any different.

Spike: Well, that’s just it. I am, and you know it. You had a soul forced on you, as a curse, make you suffer for all the horrible things you’d done. But me, I fought for my soul. Went through the demon trials. Almost did me in a dozen times over, but I kept fighting ’cause I knew it was the right thing to do. It’s my destiny.

I Fought For My Soul is a deep blood red linear holo with gunmetal flakies. These pics are two coats with topcoat, but this polish is definitely a one coater. The formula was great and very easy to work with.  I had to do minimal cleanup which is always a plus!  I'm absolutely in love with this polish!

This polish was not part of the original Once More With Feeling collection.  Julie, the creator of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer, made two new colors for the new release.  The other one is based on Angelus and is called The Last Time I Tortured Someone, They Didn't Even *Have* Chainsaws. I will be reviewing that later this week.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - June 2015 - Superheros

*purchased by me*

Hey there! June's theme for The Nail Challenge Collaborative is Superheros. I'll be honest, this theme intimidates me.  I like a few Superheros and watch some of the movies, but nail art for this theme scares me. Anyway, I decided to go with Batman for my first post.

I used two coats of Rica Mellow Yellow for my base.  I don't normally like yellows, but love this one! Then with a random black striper I drew the Batman design.  I finished it off with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top

I get that it's not perfect, but you can tell it's the Batman symbol so it works for me!

Who is your favorite Superhero? I haven't done the nail art for mine yet!  Which Superhero do you think I'll do next?

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Shimmering Sandcastles

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have for you Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Shimmering Sandcastles from the Destination Polish Collaboration - Sand and Surf Duo.  The Destination Polish Collaboration is something that Julie from BEGL will be doing each month with another indie maker.  The polishes are based on different vacation destinations.

Shimmering Sandcastles is an ivory creme with green microflakies and shimmers in aqua, silver, blue, and gold. You can see the shimmers on my ring and pinky fingers in the picture above.  It was so hard to get a good picture of the shimmer/microflakies.

This is three coats of Shimmering Sandcastles with topcoat.  The formula was good, and I love how this color changes in different light!  It really is a great summer color and reminds me of the beach!

What colors remind you of the beach?

You can buy Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquers HERE.  This duo is still available as well as the May duo.  I think you should get both!  Please like BEGL on Facebook and follow on Instagram.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Sirene Fatale

*purchased by me*

Hey there!  Let me start off by saying I am so in love with the polish I have for you today!  This is Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Sirene Fatale which is a neon hot pink creme with an intense blue flash and blue shimmer.

Julie, the creator of BEGL makes a limited edition Siren polish each month, and this is my favorite so far.  The application was great and this is three thin coats although I could have gotten away with two of I didn't mind a little VNL.  I prefer no VNL though so I went with three coats.

I love love love this polish so much!  I got so many compliments on it at work! Honestly, it's probably now my all time favorite polish!  Julie knocked it out of the park with this one!

You can purchase Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer HERE.  Unfortunately this polish was limited edition so it's sold out, but she has so many beautiful polishes you're sure to find something you'll love.  Please make sure to follow BEGL on Facebook and Instagram.
