The Nail Challenge Collaborative - June 2016: Video Games

*purchase by me*

Hey there! So as I mentioned June's The Nail Challenge Collaborative theme is Video Games.  I already mentioned I'm not a big gamer, but loved the possibilities with this theme.  Well, the only game system I owned, besides Commodore 64 & Atari which I owned as a child and shared with my sister, was a PlayStation. So this post is based on the controller.

Who doesn't think of the shapes on the controller when they think of PlayStation! I thought this might be a fun idea so decided to try it!

I started with a base of Rica Blackout which is my favorite black creme.  It's a one coater and just perfection! Rica made this polish for stamping, but I use it for everything!

To paint the shapes I first used a white Color Club Art Club striper and then painted over the shapes with a striping bush.  I used KBShimmer Radiant Orchid for the square, Zoya Demetria for the circle, China Glaze Four Leaf Clover for the triangle, and Nails Inc Baker Street for the X.

I can see my flaws, but I think I achieved what I set out to do.  It looks just like the controller so I'm happy with it.  I hope y'all like it!  I'm never perfect on freehand, but do try my best!

What games do you think would make good nail art?  What games are fun that I'm missing out on?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - June 2016: Video Games

*purchased by me*

Hey there!  So June's theme for The Nail Challenge Collaborative is Video Games. I'm not a gamer really at all, but voted for this theme cause my nephews love video games, and there are so many options.  I decided to go with a game I have bought not only many different versions of for them, but also many cards.  Pokemon is obviously the one I chose for my first!

For this look I started with a base of Rica Whiteout.  This has become my go to white cause it's a lovely one coater. I honestly have three bottles in my stash right now!

I then painted half my nail with Zoya Red Door Red which is my favorite one coater red polish. I lucked out finding this color on Amazon and immediately fell in love.  I painted a black line with my Color Club Art Club black striper.  I used Rica Blackout and my dotting tool for the black dot and Rica Whiteout for the white center dot.

I think my Pokeball look turned out great! I couldn't be happier with this mani! I just hope my nephews love it as much as I do!

What's your favorite video game?  Have you done video game inspired nail art!

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - May 2016: Spring Fashion

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have my fourth post for May's The Nail Challenge Collaborative Spring Fashion theme.  I know we're two weeks into June, but I'm happy I actually got all four looks done this month.  My final look is inspired by the skirt above from China Fashion Association.

To create this look I started with two coats of Zoya Carey which is a light grey creme. This is my favorite grey creme, and I use it often.  It can be a little streaky on the first coat, but levels off nicely on the second coat.

I stamped the floral look using Rica Gunmetal which is a beautiful gunmetal grey metallic that stamps wonderfully!  It actually has a tiny shimmer to it as well which is a light blue.  It's super pretty!

I used MoYou London Pro XL plate 24 to create the floral design.  I received this plate in a weekly stamping box that MoYou London has started offering. It's got some great designs on it so I'm happy I was able to get it. The box included two plates and 5 stamping polishes.  I can't wait till I have time to play around with it.

I really love this look. It's not exact to the fabric above, but it's close so I'm happy. I would definitely wear something like this to work or an event because it's really simple, but elegant.

I had a lot of fun with May's spring fashion theme.  Which was your favorite of my looks? I love this one, but the plaid was a lot of fun.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - May 2016: Spring Fashion

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have my third look for May's Nail Challenge Collaborative Spring Fashion theme.  For this one I went with a blown plaid look designed by Victoria Beckham.  I love plaid so knew I wanted to do something plaid for this challenge.

I started with a base of two coats of Rica Whiteout.  Whiteout is my go to white creme. It can be a one coater, but I always prefer to do two coats for all polishes.

For the plaid I used three polishes from Zoya - Pepper, Sailor, and Evvie. These colors mimic the colors in the dress above so I thought they'd be good.  I attempted a stamp with multiple colors for the first time while creating this look. It turned out great so I'll be trying that again.

For the plaid I used MoYou London Hipster 05 plate.  I've had this plate for a while so I'm glad I finally got to use it.  As I mentioned earlier, I love plaid so had fun with my choice for this look.

I hope you like this look as much as I do. I'm happy I tried something new to create it.

What new nail art techniques do you want to try?  Have you stamped with multiple colors?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - May 2016: Spring Fashion

*purchased by me*

Hey there!  Today I have my second post for May's Nail Challenge Collaborative Spring Fashion theme.  This look is inspired by the Ralph Lauren outfit above.

I started with a base of two coats of Orly Color Blast In The Name Of Justice from the Wonder Woman collection available at Walgreen's.  I am in love with this color and the shimmer/flakies.

Then using Orly Color Blast Lady Truth also from the Wonder Woman collection and straight vinyls from Stick It! Nail Vinyls to mimic the stripes on the shirt.  I left one nail solid blue like the skirt.

I honestly thought the shirt was red and blue when I did these, but now that I'm looking at it I see that it's orange.  Oops! Unfortunately these were already done before I realized.

I think that this does look like the Ralph Lauren outfit above even if the colors aren't exact.

What do you think of this look?  What trends have you been wearing this spring?
