The Nail Challenge Collaborative - July 2016: 80's

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have my third post for July's 80's theme for The Nail Challenge Collaborative.  For this look I went with fluorescent pink and black which totally reminds me of 80's fashion.

I started with a a base of three coats of Zoya Ali with two coats of Zoya Raven on my accent nail. Ali is a gorgeous neon pink and perfect for the summer! This was the first time I was able to see the shimmer in Raven, and it made me love this polish more.

For the nail art I used straight vinyls from Stick It! Nail Vinyls to make the triangles, and I painted them with Raven. I used pink neon round studs from Born Pretty Store for the accent nail.

Although the pinks don't match up perfectly I love how this looked turned out. It's totally 80's, like for sure!

What do you think of this look?  What nail art would you do for 80's fashion?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - July 2016: 80's

*purchased by me*

Hey there!  Today I have my second post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative July 80's theme. For this post I did a manicure inspired by the Rubik's Cube Which totally reminds me of the 80's.

For this look I started with a base of Zoya Willa which was an untried for me.  I only did one coat, but if I was going to wear it alone it would definitely need more coats.

Once Willa was dry I put down straight vinyls from Stick It! Nail Vinyls to make the lines for the cubes.

I used Nails Inc Baker Street, Rica Whiteout, and Zoya Cam, Josie, Pippa, and Red Door Red to color in the cubes.  I finished up with KBShimmer Clearly On Top

I had a lot of fun with this look.  It totally reminds me of a Rubik's Cube and my childhood growing up in the 80's.

What do you think of this look? What toys and games remind you of the 80's?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - July 2016: 80's

*purchased by me*

Hey there!  July's theme for The Nail Challenge Collaborative is 80's.  One thing that always makes me think of the 80's is neon colors and geometric shapes.  We've changed the "rules" in The Nail Challenge Collaborative so starting this month we'll have to do a minimum of two posts a month, but can still do four with time permitting.

I started with a base of Rica "Whiteout" then created a gradient using Philly Loves Lacquer "Sunshine After The Rain", "We've Got It Glowin' On" and "Hip Hop Marmalade". These colors are from The Bright Stuff, Baby collection which was their 2016 neon collection.  All of the polish names are based on Boy Band songs so of course I needed the entire collection!

After the gradient dried I stamped using MoYou London "Black Knight" and The Pro XL 18 plate.  This is my first time using a MoYou London stamping polish and let me tell you it stamped like perfection. I will definitely be getting more stamping polishes from them in the future.

I really love how this mani turned out.  The gradient worked out so well for me, and I love the stamping over it. It definitely reminds me of the 80's!

What do you think of this look?  What would you do for 80's nail art?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - June 2016: Video Games

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Today I have my fourth post for The Nail Challenge Collaborative's Video Games theme.  For my final mani I decided to go with Toad from Super Mario Brothers!  I always thought Toad was super cute and decided it would be a fun mani idea!

I started with a clear basecoat as I knew there would be negative space in this mani.  I used my go to base coat, Nailtiques Formula 2

Then I painted my tips white on three nails using Rica Whiteout.  On the fourth nail I painted a thicker tip with Zoya Avery.

I used Zoya Red Door Red to paint the stripe on three nails and Toad's head on my ring finger.  I used a black Color Club Art Club striper for the eyes. Using a dotting tool I did Toad's dots on the mushroom cap and the whites of his eyes using Rica Whiteout. I finished it with KBShimmer Clearly On Top topcoat.

You can see I had a little smearing on my middle and pinky fingers when I applied the topcoat, but besides that I love how this turned out.  Toad is super cute...see what I did there!

What was your favorite of my four video game looks?  Have you tried any of the looks I did?

The Nail Challenge Collaborative - June 2016: Video Games

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Once again I'm late on The Nail Challenge Collaborative posts. As you know, June's theme is video games, and if you don't know what game the picture above is from I'm shocked!  For my third post I obviously chose my biggest video game addiction, Candy Crush

I am so addicted to Candy Crush it's not even funny!  I play all three versions, but lately Candy Jelly Crush is my main addiction! I hate the Jelly Queen with a passion and feel Cupcake Carl could use a few more brain cells just to realize what moves to play.  Throw in Licorice Larry, and I have a team of nemeses that I want to beat!

I decided to emulate the striped candies and the candy bomb (or dot candy) for this mani!  I started with a base of Rica Whiteout on my index, ring, and pinky fingers, and Essie Partner in Crime on my middle finger.  I've mentioned before how much I love Whiteout, but have I ever mentioned how much I love Partner In Crime.  It's the perfect dark brown polish in my opinion!

For the stripes I used Zoya Pippa, Yummy, and Arizona, and straight nail vinyls from Stick It! Nail Vinyls.  For the dots I used Zoya Pippa, Yummy, Red Door Red, Josie, and Perrie, and Rica Whiteout and my dotting tools.

I couldn't be happier with how this turned out! It's my favorite of this theme so far.  The candy bomb nail is my favorite! Plus my nephew who also plays religiously gave me his seal of approval!

What do you think of this look? Do you play Candy Crush?
