Red Coat Tuesday featuring Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Dawn Breaks and Hypothermia

Hey there! It's almost time for Pretty Little Liars, and you know what that means...it's Red Coat Tuesday!

First off, about last week's episode (Spoilers).  Hanna's Dad was really kind of a jerk to her. He should have had money for his actual daughter to go to college not just his step daughter.  Also, I still think Jonny is shady and gonna cause more harm than good. We shall see!

For my Red Coat Tuesday mani I used Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Dawn Breaks (which a friend bought for me) and did an accent nail of Hypothermia (which I got free with the Spark in the Dark collection). Dawn Breaks is a beautiful red linear holo with gold and purple shimmers. Hypothermia is a limited edition polish that is a purple holo with purple shimmers. I thought these two paired nicely together!

Happy Valentine's Day!

*purchased by me*

Hey there and Happy Valentine's Day! Today I have my Valentine's themed mani for you.

I used a Limited Edition Shooting Star polish from DIFFERENT Dimension named Straight and Arrow which is a cherry red holographic polish with gold shimmer. The holo and shimmer aren't visible in all of my pictures, but believe me it's quite stunning in person!  This is two coats of Straight and Arrow.

On my accent nail I used StardustPolish Self-Aware. I can't even begin to describe the beauty that is this polish.  It's a pearl white with a strong red-pink shimmer. I wish my photos showed the color shift in this one better.  This is three coats of Self-Aware.

Finally, I finished my Valentine's Day look off with a heart decal I won in a giveaway from You Polish. I thought it tied into my Valentine's theme perfectly.

I actually got a lot of comments on this mani at work yesterday which always makes my day! What's on your nails for Valentine's Day?

A2Z Series Week 14 - N is for New

*purchased by me*

Hey there! It's week 14 in the A2Z Weekly Challenge, and this week N is for New.

I decided to not only use new polishes, but also a new to me technique.  I started with a base of Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Sirens are Made for Water, Not Snow which is a gorgeous cobalt blue with purple shimmer. Then I did a dry brush glitter gradient using a custom BEGL named Ecopolo 2014.

I can't believe I haven't done glitter gradients before. They're really easy and look great.  I also tried it in different colors!

This is a base of BEGL She's Electricity and did the glitter gradient using Counting Down Until I See You. The above pic is with flash.

And this pic is without flash. I really like the way glitter gradients look especially with adult accent nail of the glitter. I will definitely be doing more of these in the future.

What colors should I use for my next glitter gradient?

Red Coat Tuesday Featuring Pacifica Red Red Wine and Rica Whiteout

*purchased by me*

Hey there! It's Red Coat Tuesday! Yay! I'm actually liking this season of Pretty little Liars so I've been looking forward to new episodes. I don't like Alison so having her not be in the show much this season really helps, plus I just want to know what's going on with Mike. Oh, and having Jason back doesn't hurt. He's so hot!

For this week's mani I used Pacifica Red Red Wine and Rica Whiteout and did some stamping with MoYou London The Pro XL 08 plate. This is two coats of each polish with stamping in the opposite color.  This was my first time using a Pacifica polish, and I was really impressed.  As you know Rica is one of my favorite indie brands, and Whiteout is my go to white for nail art.

I'm still not great with stamping, but practice is definitely helping. I'm really happy with how this turned out.  It's also a great Valentine's Day mani!

Tonight we're halfway through the season so here are my questions so far for this season of PLL. Who or what really is in the barrel?  Who is Mike leaving the trick or treat bags for? Who is that guy renting the Hasting's barn? His "secrets" machine will certainly stir up trouble!  I might have missed this, but when did Ezra buy the coffee shop and decide to turn it into a bookstore? Was that ever mentioned? And what's the deal with Holbrook?

I hope you liked my mani! What are your thoughts on this season? Any predictions?

A2Z Series Week 13 - M is for Multi-Colored

*purchased by me*

Hey there! It's week 13 of the A2Z Weekly Challenge, and this week M is for Multi-Colored.  I can't believe we're halfway through the challenge!

I had a really hard time with this week's challenge.  I had an idea, but I didn't like how it turned out. Then I tried something else, and again I didn't love it. Finally I came up with a mani I loved, but as you can see my hands are really dry and my cuticles are a mess due to being sick and this extremely cold weather.  So please just look at the nail art and don't judge me for my cuticles. I've been using lotion and cuticle oil regularly so I'm not sure what else to do.

The polishes I used for this look (from left to right) are KBShimmer Shore Thing, Sinful Colors Endless Blue, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow, and KBShimmer Sky Jinks. I then stamped over them using MoYou London Sailor 06 plate and Rica Whiteout.

I love how this turned out. I have a hard time stamping, but always seem to get it right when I use my MoYou London plates.  Now I'll show you my two failed looks for this weeks theme.

I wanted to do mini hearts, but I just don't have that technique down yet so they weren't uniform and some didn't even look like hearts. The base is OPI Embrace The Gray and the hearts are Zoya Areej, KBShimmer Shore Thing and Sky Jinks, and Sinful Colors Endless Blue.

I don't think I'll ever get the hang of water marbling. I need to keep practicing though cause I love how it looks when other people do it. The colors I used for this are Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow, KBShimmer Sky Jinks and Shore Thing, and Zoya Areej.

There are so many fun ideas for multi-colored manis, what would you do? Any recommendations for cuticle hair in this harsh winter weather?

Red Coat Tuesday Featuring A England Briar Rose and Fated Prince

*purchased by me*

Hey there! Time for another Red Coat Tuesday and a new Pretty Little Liars episode.  Yay!  Sadly, I broke the nail on my index finger over the weekend so as you can see I'm back to nubbins.

I usually wear brighter reds for Red Coat Tuesday so this week I decided to go with a different shade of red. I used A England Briar Rose/Sleeping Beauty with an accent of A England Fated Prince. I used two coats of each polish, and I added some loose heart glitters that I got from KBShimmer on my accent nail.  I finished up the mani with KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

Briar Rose is a really pretty cranberry/scarlet scattered holographic. Sleeping Beauty is one of my all time favorite stories so I was really excited when A England came out with the Burnes-Jones Dream collection.  Fated Prince is a really cool color. It's a grey scattered holo with olive green undertones. I'm gonna have to wear it again soon without the heart glitters over it so I can really appreciate it's beauty. I placed an order with KBShimmer last week, and she included these cute hearts in my order.  I thought they would look cute with this mani so decided to try them out.

The formula on these polishes was great, and I really love the subtle holo. I could have gotten away with one coat of Briar Rose, but definitely needed two coats of Fated Prince.  I'm still not sure how I feel about the heart glitters.  I wish they would lay flat on my nail.

Sorry this post wasn't really about Pretty Little Liars.  What do you think will happy on tonight's episode?  What are your thoughts on this season so far?
